Get away from the madding crowds & modern life with a ride out on one of Cornwall's many multi-use trails.
We feature a number of short cycle rides suitable for beginners, as well as more strenuous workouts for the seasoned cyclist.
Hire bikes in Wadebridge or walk and follow the Camel Trail to Bodmin on a scenic 7 mile route which also takes in a quaint teashop on the trail along the way. Expect the journey, which is pretty much flat all the way, to take less than an hour (not allowing for a tea stop mind!). Of course you can go either way; ie: Bodmin to Wadebridge.
Rating: An easy ride for beginners, nothing strenuous. You may even be surprised at how quick and easy it t'was in fact.
Hire bikes in Wadebridge or walk and follow the Camel Trail to Padstow on a beautiful 6 mile stretch of the Camel estuary. Expect the journey, which is flat all the way, to take less than 45 minutes (not allowing for a stops mind!). Of course you can go either way; ie: Padstow to Wadebridge.
Rating: Another easy ride for beginners, nothing strenuous. You will be surprised at how quick and easy accessing the Camel Trail is.
This part of the Camel Trail, from Bodmin to St Breward, is often the quieter part of the trail. It takes you through the scenic woodland of Shell Woods and offers a few more 'twists and turns'.
Rating: Nothing more than moderate; a 10 mile ride that can be a nice round robin trip if you decide to come back via one of the other routes. Expect it take take about an hour.
Any cycling close to the coast inevitably involves a hill or two! This short journey from Bude to the Bullers Arms in Maramchurch takes in Route 3 of the National Cycle Network and has an elevation of about 150ft. Thankfully it's on the way out to Maramchurch; therefore downhill on the return journey!
Rating: Relatively easy, although maybe not suitable for the complete novice. It's about 2.5 miles each way. for the keen cyclist this is nothing more than a 15 minutes trip.
