Three miles east of Penryn, near Falmouth, lies Flushing; a village which is well known for its Regatta in July. Originally named Nankersey, which translates to 'Valley of the Reed Swamp', it was given the name 'Flushing' by Dutch engineers who built the three main quays in the village (they came from Flushing in the Netherlands!)
