Frederik Andersen Signing Has Helped Hurricanes Join the Stanley Cup Championship

Every team in the Stanley Cup championship has to have a top-notch player as the goaltender. Carolina Hurricanes got that by signing 32- year- old Frederik Andersen.

Currently, the Hurricanes are number 2 with a 10-1-0 record. The Hurricanes have a great deep forward group but with a weak defense end.

After several losses since the 2008-2009 season, the Hurricanes traded their goalie Nedeljkovic to another team and drafted Andersen in 2010.

In 10 games, Andersen has got a 9-1-0 record and a 1.73 GAA, the fourth-best mark in the league. Andersen has allowed one goal or less in six of his starts while recording one shut out. He has an allowance of more than three goals on just one occasion.

On Tuesday, Andersen saved 17 out of the 18 shots by the Tampa Bay lightning team leading to a 2-1 victory for the Hurricanes. He was named NHL’s third star of October after having a 7-0-0 record, 1.29 GAA, a .956 save percentage, and a shutout in seven starts last month.

Andersen is currently ranked fifth with a .939 save percentage amongst all NHL goalies. He is also the seventh goaltender in NHL history to earn wins in his first six games to start a season.

In the 2021-22 season, the Hurricanes have defeated most teams in the NHL, and with Andersen’s stellar performance throughout the season, Hurricanes could win the Lord Stanley’s Cup this summer.
